SuffolkNews Podcast: Family bakery ceases trading after owners injured in crash

In today’s podcast, a popular family bakery business has stopped trading, after its owners were seriously injured in a crash at the end of last week.

Pat and Chris Weston, the husband-and-wife co-founders of Weston’s Bakery in Sudbury, were hospitalised following a head-on collision with an overtaking vehicle on Friday.

Chris was discharged on the same day, while Pat was kept overnight with broken ribs and a possible broken wrist.

Saturday was the bakery’s last day of trading.

Also, a festival celebrating locally-sourced produce has attracted thousands of people.

The annual Stowmarket Food and Drink Festival returned yesterday to offer all types of food and drink – from burgers, paella and burritos to brownies and other sweet treats.

The event also saw professional chefs deliver cooking demonstrations, including Masterchef star Adam Spicer.

Anf finally, a green space forming part of a 330-home development in Bury St Edmunds has been approved.

The plans for Marham Park, south of Mildenhall Road and east of Tut Hill, were given the green light by West Suffolk Council on Friday, June 30.

The reserved matters application relates to land next to the development’s two most western sections of houses – thish will form a ‘green corridor’, with trees, hedges, flowers and a footpath.
