Body discovered in search of missing Thetford woman Kim Wilde
A body has been found in the search for a Thetford woman who has been missing for just over a week.
Norfolk Police have confirmed they found the body of a woman in the Little Ouse River just south of Thetford Power Station.
The discovery was made at around 10.30am today.
Emergency services attended the scene including police, fire, and ambulance.
It comes after a search has been ongoing for Kim Wilde, 65, who went missing from her home in Kimms Belt in the town, at 4.20pm on January 5, and police had become increasingly concerned for her welfare.
On Wednesday (January 10), video footage showing Kim emerged from a camera at Wong's Taste of China in the town's Bridge Street, showing her walking into the town centre on the same day as her disappearance.
On Thursday and yesterday (January 11 and 12), the focus turned to the River Thet as Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service and the constabulary’s marine unit were searching a stretch of it near to the town centre and the police force confirmed they were treating the incident as a missing person investigation.
While the body has yet to be formally identified, the family of Kim Wilde have been informed.
Inquiries are ongoing but the death is not believed to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
