Thetford river being searched to find missing woman Kim Wilde

Focus has turned to a Thetford river in the continuing search for a missing woman who was last seen on Friday.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service and Norfolk Constabulary’s Marine Unit are searching a stretch of the River Thet near to the town centre, as they look for Kim Wilde.

The 65-year-old went missing from her home in Kimms Belt in the town, at 4.20pm on January 5, and police have become increasingly concerned for her welfare.

Inspector Howard Elvidge from Norfolk Constabulary, said: “We have carried out a number of inquiries to find Kim, including tracing her movements on CCTV in the town centre and are treating this as a missing person investigation.

“Kim is last seen in the area of the river which is why our searches today are focused on the River Thet.”

This follows video footage shown yesterday on SuffolkNews, posted on one of her cousin’s social media pages, from a camera at Wong's Taste of China in the town's Bridge Street, supposedly showing her walking into the town centre on the same day.

Police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen Kim.

Anyone with information or who knows of her whereabouts should contact Norfolk Police immediately on 101 quoting incident number of 348 of 6 January 2024.
