Merkur Slots opens Thetford £200,000 adult gaming centre in former HSBC bank building in King Street
An adult gaming company has opened a new £200,000 entertainment centre in Thetford, creating 10 new jobs in the town.
Merkur Slots UK (Ltd) took over the former HSBC bank building in King Street, which was approved unanimously by Breckland Council’s planning committee in July last year.
The new venue, which the company says features the latest digital low stake gambling slot machines, is part of a nationwide programme that will see Merkur invest more than £5million into UK high streets over the next 12 months.
Mark Schertle, chief operating officer of Merkur Slots’ parent company Merkur Casino UK, said: “We pride ourselves on our continued investment in UK high streets, and so it means a lot to be able to support the local community and economy in Thetford through the creation of these new jobs.
“Every new venue we open creates an average of 10 new local jobs and we have already generated more than 600 jobs across the UK in the last 12 months through developing existing venues and opening new ones.”
“I’m sure those visiting over the next few days and weeks will be as excited about this new venue as I am.”
