Oliver’s Brewery site, in Cornard Road, Sudbury, to be converted into six flats after Babergh District Council grant planning permission

A former brewery will be converted into flats in a Suffolk town after planning permission was granted.

D Mason Developments Limited lodged documents with Babergh District Council at the end of July to transform the disused Oliver’s Brewery building, in Cornard Road, Sudbury, into six dwellings, and it was approved yesterday (21 November).

The project will see six flats created across the site, with two two-bedroom and one single-bedroom flat on the ground floor, whilst the first floor would have three two-bedroom flats.

The development would also involve the creation of a small extension at the back of the site to create an entrance lobby, whilst the basements would be used for communal bicycle storage and a study office.

The building is currently empty and disused.

Sudbury Town Council and Sudbury Society’s Planning Group supported the project.

The original Oliver’s Brewery building was created in the late 19th century, whilst the brewery’s office were rebuilt in 1902.

Developers now have three years to begin work on the project.
