BBC’s Panorama show to look at opposition to possible nuclear weapons storage at RAF Lakenheath
A BBC Investigative programme has interviewed protesters over the possible installation of nuclear weapons at a Suffolk airbase for a show set to go out on Thursday.
Nuclear Armageddon: How Close Are We? from Panorama on BBC Two will be talking to campaigners opposing the potential deployment of the new generation US weapons to RAF Lakenheath.
The show will also look at the doomsday clock, a symbolic gauge of the imminent dangers our planet might confront, Oppenheimer's Manhattan Project in New Mexico and at Britain's nuclear deterrent in Scotland.
In November last year, the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) legally challenged development works at RAF Lakenheath as it believed it was in preparation for the weapons.
The Panorama show will be on BBC Two on Thursday at 9pm.
