Former Ipswich Hockey Club player Hannah Martin a force to be reckoned with at Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games as Women's GB Hockey team prepare for their final pool game

Team GB Hockey player, Hannah Martin, has played a huge role in many of the team's successes on the field since their first game in this year's Olympics on Sunday.

The Ipswich-trained hockey player has proved quite the force to be reckoned with on the pitch, scoring twice in crucial 4-1 win against India on Wednesday.

Her efforts put them 1-0 up just two minutes into the team's third pool game, bringing them closer to quarter-final qualification.

Yesterday's match against The Netherlands ended in defeat for team GB, with a penalty score from Matla in the 13th minute leading the opposition to victory.

The team have now won two of their four games, beating both South Africa and India 4-1.

Hannah Martin, who started playing hockey aged four and went on to play for Ipswich Hockey Club, recently told Suffolk News she would never have tried the sport had it not been for her education at Ipswich School.

"They've been a massive part of my career as a Hockey player and I couldn't be more grateful for the coaches we had at that school," she said.

"They really put me on the right path from the word 'go' so they have definitely been an integral part of my career path."

Team GB Women's Hockey will face Ireland tomorrow at 12.45pm in their last pool match of the games.

The top four teams in each pool qualify for the quarter-final, which will be held on August 2, with semi finals to follow on August 4 and final on August 6.
