Here's how Suffolk athletes Hannah Martin of Ipswich and Callum Wilkinson of Moulton fared at the Commonwealth Games 2022

Two athletes from Suffolk represented England in the Commonwealth Games today, with one bagging a gold medal.

Callum Wilkinson competed in the Men's 10,000 Metre Race Walk which kicked off at 11.20am.

The Moulton-raised athlete, who finished tenth at the Olympic Games in Tokyo last year, just missed out on a medal today, finishing in fourth place.

Callum, who recently told Suffolk News he is often his own harshest critic, was beaten by Sandeep Kumar of India, who came third, and Declan Tingay of Australia, who bagged a silver medal.

Canadian athlete Evan Dunfee took gold in today's race.

Kicking off at 3pm, the Women's Hockey Final saw Hannah Martin, who grew up in Ipswich, get a gold medal as the team beat Australia to the top spot.

England had a strong start thanks to goals from Hollie Hunt and Tessa Howard in the second quarter but a last-minute shot from Australia's Ambrosia Malone meant the final score was 2-1.

In Tokyo last year, Hannah represented team GB and took home a bronze medal after they were beaten by India.

She has previously told Suffolk News of her gratitude to Ipswich Hockey Club and Ipswich School for her youth training.
