A14 central reservation repairs causing severe delays in and around Bury St Edmunds





Motorists on a number of routes in and around Bury St Edmunds are facing severe delays.

In some areas, traffic is moving as slow as 10mph as rush hour approaches.

One lane either side of the A14 is closed due to emergency barrier repairs between J42 A1302 Newmarket Road (Westley Interchange) and J43 A134 Compiegne Way (Bury Central Interchange / Sugar Beet Roundabout).

The closure happened after a lorry collided with the central reservation in the early hours of this morning.

According to AA Route Planner, there is currently an average speed of 15 mph on A14 Westbound between J44 A134 (Bury Eastern Interchange / Moreton Hall) and J43 A134 Compiegne Way (Bury Central Interchange / Sugar Beet Roundabout).

There are also severe delays of 20 minutes and delays increasing on A14 Eastbound between J41 Newmarket Road (Risby) and J43 A134 Compiegne Way (Bury Central Interchange / Sugar Beet Roundabout).

Average speed on this section of road is 10 mph.

On the A143 at Great Barton, there is slow traffic due to traffic diverting from the delays on the A14 on A143 Eastbound at B1106 Mill Road.

On the A14 at Woolpit, there are severe delays of 18 minutes on A14 Eastbound in Suffolk.

Average speed here is 10 mph.

More than 28,000 football fans are expected at Portman Road, Ipswich tonight, for the Ipswich v Port Vale match kicking off at 7.45pm.

Many of these will travel along the routes for the game.
