Long Melford traffic bollard in Hall Street sparking due to electrical fire caused by water damage

Emergency services have been called to an underground electrical fire caused by water damage to a traffic bollard.

Suffolk Police and Suffolk Fire and Rescue were alerted to Hall Street in Long Melford at 10.39am today.

The heavy rain in the county damaged the bollard’s electrics causing it to spark.

The area was cordoned off but the road has remained open.

UK Power Networks has fixed the problem to make it safe.
