Multiple Suffolk fire crews called to Muntons malt factory in Stowmarket





Multiple fire crews were called to a malt factory in Suffolk last night.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue was alerted at 9.50pm to the incident at Muntons in Stowmarket.

At 12.48am today, a spokesperson for the company said: “At present we have the fire brigade on site at Stowmarket to deal with a contained fire risk in the intake driers.

“All personnel are safe and accounted for.

“Production is still continuing across the rest of site and service to customers is not impacted.

“We are working closely with the fire department to ensure there are no further issues.”

According to Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service’s incidents log, 16 crews attended including from Ipswich East, Princes Street, Holbrook, Debenham, Needham Market, Stowmarket, Hadleigh, Sudbury, Long Melford, Haverhill, Bury St Edmunds, Elmswell, Ixworth and Newmarket.

The incident was dealt with by 4.38am.
