Mark Cordell, chief executive of Our Bury St Edmunds, said: “It’s been fabulous so far - it’s been very busy and it’s the most stalls we’ve had for this event.

“There was a small downpour in the middle of the day, but that didn’t dampen our spirits.

“The weather should be better tomorrow so we’re excited to welcome more people - it’s been lovely to see people sitting, relaxing and socialising over the bank holiday.”

The event also offers plenty to keep children entertained with the return of the popular urban beach in the arc shopping centre outside The Apex.

As well as the beach there will be other children’s activities including fairground rides, face painting and street entertainment.

The next set of cooking demonstrations will take place at Stoves Cookery Theatre from 10am in the town centre.

Professional chefs from The Olive Grove, Three Kings, Bay Tree Cafe, and Lillian’s Kitchen will be taking to the stage today to show audiences how to prepare their favourite dishes.
