Trains between Ipswich and Norwich running again after fallen tree damages cables at Needham Market
A train line between Ipswich and Norwich has reopened after a tree fell on and damaged overhead wires.
Yesterday, an amber warning for wind and a yellow alert for rain was in place across Suffolk as the first major storm of 2024 swept through the county.
Public transport systems saw a number of cancellations and disruptions and many roads were flooded.
The effects of the storm carried on into this morning, and Greater Anglia urged people not to travel on the line that runs between Ipswich and Norwich, Cambridge and Peterborough.
However, this ‘do not travel’ warning has since been lifted.
It had been refreshed at 6.30am
The suspension of the line came after a fallen tree damaged overhead cables at Needham Market station.
The line reopened at 8.47am.
