Thetford trio given more than 15 years in jail for supplying cocaine, cannabis and nitrous oxide canisters

A trio of Thetford men have been sentenced to more than 15 years in prison for drug offences after two of them were found with a block of cocaine with a street value of £100,000.

Daryl Husbands, 35, and Charlie Blackwell, 33, both of Chase Court, and David Klec, 34, of Peter Drive, appeared at Ipswich Crown Court on December 15 and were sentenced for conspiracy to supply cocaine.

It relates to a series of incidents between March and June 2021 when a BMW registered to Klec made nine separate trips between Thetford and Liverpool. He was seen to meet both Husbands and Blackwell and exchange large packages on his return.

A warrant was executed at Blackwell’s home address in August 2021 where Husbands and Blackwell were found with a compressed block of cocaine with a street value of approximately £100,000.

Mobile phone analysis confirmed contact between all three defendants as well as the journeys made to Liverpool.

Husbands and Blackwell were charged with conspiracy to supply cocaine, possession with intent to supply a psychoactive substance – nitrous oxide – and possession with intent to supply cannabis.

Klec was initially released under investigation and then later charged with conspiracy to supply cocaine.

Blackwell, Husbands and Klec all pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply cocaine.

Blackwell and Husbands also pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply cannabis. Blackwell further admitted to possession with intent to supply nitrous oxide canisters and Husbands also pleaded guilty to the same charge.

Husbands was sentenced to six year and nine months imprisonment, Blackwell was given six years and Klec will spend three years in prison.

Investigating officer DC Daniel Rayner said: “These are significant sentences that illustrate our zero-tolerance approach towards drug supply.”

“We are committed to disrupting those who choose to distribute drugs in our county. I hope this sentence acts as a deterrent to anyone who may choose to involve themselves in this type of criminal activity.”
