Ipswich Town column: Ed Sheeran on hand to witness ‘Perfect’ night at Portman Road
We are incredible. Not just on the pitch, but the way that this club has developed into a forward-thinking, modern day football club off it, is also such a sight to behold.
Saturday’s hard-fought point away at Huddersfield was followed up by a magnificent victory against top six Hull City on Tuesday night, and what a performance it was.
The Blues were absolutely dazzling, scoring three fantastic goals and completely blowing 27,000 Portman Road spectators away with their football.
The orange shirts of Hull were also joined by the orange hair of Ed Sheeran, with the superstar having quite the evening by the look of things.
As I saw the video come through of McKenna and his players enjoying a little sing-song with the worldwide phenomenon, I just couldn’t help but smile and bask at just how much of a good place our club is at the moment.
For years we have longed for this and it is finally here, so you can forgive us for absolutely revelling in it.
That said, Kieran McKenna will not be getting too carried away with his attention firmly focused now on the weekend’s visit of Preston North End.
Ryan Lowe’s team have been one of the surprise packages so far this season, meaning it promises to be another fascinating spectacle at Portman Road. But one I just can’t help but feel we’ll win again.
Honestly, what is going on with this football club? I’m trying to keep my feet on the ground but I also have the utmost belief that those lads and their manager can just beat anybody. Well, play like they did on Tuesday night and they certainly can!
I’ll go for a 2-1 win. I don’t think Preston will allow Ipswich Town as many chances as Hull City and Blackburn have in recent weeks, but I’m not sure there is a team in the division that can stop them having a sight of the net for too long.
