Thetford suspected shoplifters arrested on the same day for three separate thefts charged with offences
A trio of Thetford suspected shoplifters arrested on the same day have been charged with offences in and around the town.
On December 12, officers arrested a 45-year-old man, a 30-year-old woman and a 52-year-old man for separate incidents.
This follows beat managers teaming up with retailers to create a ‘ShopWatch’ scheme in the town to prevent regular offending and thefts from shops in the centre and the town’s retail parks.
On 15 October, alcohol and meat were stolen from a supermarket in Attleborough. A man was arrested and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
Subsequently, Belvin Coney, 45, of Ash Close, was charged with shoplifting and bailed to appear at Norwich Magistrates Court on January 17.
Between October 15 and November 29, six thefts occurred at stores in Attleborough and Thetford where items including alcohol, laundry products and food were stolen.
Shontel Buckley, 30, of St Michael’s Close, was arrested taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning, before being charged with six counts of shoplifting.
Buckley appeared at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, where she was released on conditional bail ahead of her next appearance at the court on February 2.
On December 9, food was stolen from a shop on the A11 near Thetford. A man was arrested in connection with the incident and taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
Anthony Wermerling, 52, of Canterbury Way, Thetford was charged with shoplifting.
He was remanded in custody before he appeared at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Thursday – the case was adjourned until January 19.
