Bury St Edmunds Compiegne Way closed over a week ago remains shut following flooding

A flood-prone Bury St Edmunds road which was closed due to flooding caused by Storm Henk remains shut more than a week after barriers were put in place.

Compiegne Way has been closed in both directions since last Monday.

The major route has repeatedly flooded over autumn and winter.

Works to resolve the long-running problem, including removing more than 100 tonnes of silt from the drainage system and installing new pumps, were completed by Suffolk Highways last April.

In December, when asked by SuffolkNews about its long-term plans for tackling repeated issues in Compiegne Way, a Suffolk Highways spokeswoman said they were aware of the ongoing flooding.

Another Bury road which remains closed due to flooding is Nowton Road.

The road is closed in both directions between Mayfield Road and Fox And Pin Lane.

Nowton Road was closed last Friday.
