Residents in Bury St Edmunds have been spoiled for choice this weekend with two events to get the festive season underway.
The Constitutional Club, in Guildhall Street, held its annual Winter Beer Festival alongside the West Suffolk branch of CAMRA today and yesterday, with this being its third one.
Neil Rayson, festival organiser and club manager, said this year’s festival was successful.
He added: “It was really good. The support from locals and from CAMRA has been fantastic. It was very successful.
“There’s been a high turn out of people in town. As far as the beer festival was concerned, it was a great turn out. Really good, positive weekend.”
There was three different bars, including a Three Blind Mice bar which was a brewery from Little Downham, and a larger bar which catered to people who prefer dark beer, winter ales and ciders.
There was also music and food was provided by Edis of Ely.
The winter beer finishes up at 10.30pm tonight.
From Thursday until yesterday, St Edmundsbury Cathedral welcomed visitors in for its Christmas Market.
There was over 50 stalls and the market also flowed through the Cathedral Cloisters to provide an even larger shopping experience.
Stalls included gifts, jewellery, baked goods and woodcrafts.
In addition to the shopping experience, there was daily entertainment for visitors from local schools, and the Haverhill Silver Band joined the festivities on Saturday.
Cathedral tours were also going on at the same time, offering visitors the opportunity to see the Abbey Gardens and the town.
