Bury Town swoop to sign Lakenheath forward Tom Thulborn following recent arrivals of Ollie Canfer and Louie Arnold

Bury Town have continued to bolster their attacking options with the arrival of Tom Thulborn from Lakenheath.

Blues boss Cole Skuse and his assistant Paul Musgrove have been working hard to actively add numbers in the attacking third of the pitch over recent days following the signings of Ollie Canfer and Louie Arnold from Stowmarket Town and Cornard United respectively.

And the duo have now been joined at the OCS Ram Meadow Stadium by fellow forward Thulborn, who has been a key player during his three and a half years with Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division outfit Lakenheath.

The former Ely City and Haverhill Borough frontman helped Lakenheath to win the Suffolk Senior Cup and League Challenge Cup, as well as also recording the club’s highest ever finish in the non-league pyramid.

However, he will now begin a new chapter a level higher with Bury in the Pitching In isthmian League North Division – a move that sees him reunited with Charlie Beckwith after the goalkeeper made the same switch at the start of the month.

Skuse told the Bury website: “I am pleased to welcome Tom to the club. He was someone we had been looking at this season as his goalscoring record caught our eye. I know there was other clubs also getting ready to approach him, so we put our approach into Lakenheath last week and we are pleased he has decided to join us.

“He has 14 goals already this season so we are hoping he can bring that clinical finishing across to us. With the arrival of Ollie Canfer last week we have added two quality players to the squad over the past week and we are confident that this will change our fortunes on the pitch.”

Subject to the clearance of paperwork, Thulborn will be part of the Bury squad for tomorrow’s home encounter against Walthamstow (3pm).

Meanwhile, having last week lost Canfer’s services to their neighbours from down the A14, bottom-of-the-table Stowmarket Town have made two new signings.

Former AFC Sudbury winger Jake Clowsley has arrived from FC Clacton, while ex-Bury centre-back Taylor Hastings has also agreed to join the Old Gold & Blacks.

Stowmarket, who will be looking for their first league win of the season tomorrow when they host second-from-bottom Grays Athletic (3pm), have also confirmed that Ipswich Town midfielder Ben Haddoch has extended his loan spell at Greens Meadow until January 3, 2024.

Haddoch has so far made three appearances in Stowmarket colours.
