Newmarket Town complete signing of Will Gardner after recent Bury Town departure

Newmarket Town have completed the signing of Will Gardner.

It is the start of a second spell at the Tristel Stadium for the left-back, who made three appearances for the Jockeys during the 2021/22 season while on dual registration terms from Bury Town.

Gardner left Bury last month having spent five years over two separate stints with the Pitching In Isthmian League North Division club.

The former Haverhill Rovers and Soham Town Rangers defender featured on six occasions for the Blues this term, the last of which came during the 2-0 defeat at Ipswich Wanderers on November 4.

Gardner could now feature for Newmarket Town on Saturday when they travel to face Harleston Town (3pm).

Newmarket go into that fixture sitting second in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division, four points adrift of table-topping Mildenhall Town.
