It’s Christmas Trees Galore at Blackthorpe Barn
Visitors to Blackthorpe Barn in Rougham, just outside Bury St Edmunds, will soon be able to choose their perfect famous Rougham Estate Christmas tree ready for the festive season.
All the trees are carefully cultivated over the years, ensuring that they thrive in the plantations close to the barn and continue to be in tip-top condition ready to be enjoyed by many.
From 25th November visitors to the barn can choose freshly cut and pot grown trees, each with their own unique characteristics, plus miniature trees, perfect for windowsills and table displays.
The most popular is the Nordman Fir, from Scandinavia, it retains its needles better than most and therefore has greater longevity.
The Norway Spruce is more traditional with a lovely scent yet requires extra care and watering to stay fresh.
Each tree comes with a handy care guide to ensure the new owners know how to give it the best care to ensure it can continue to be enjoyed throughout the festive period.
Rougham Estate Christmas trees do have a reputation for being high quality and for their longevity.
Simon Eddell leads the team at Rougham Estate and he knows a thing or two about nurturing the trees having done it many years.
Also, with Rougham Estate being a member of The British Christmas Tree Growers Association, Simon has to ensure they adhere to strict codes of practice to ensure the trees are grown to meet their stringent environmental and sustainable guidelines.
Simon Eddell adds, “I love this time of year when we see the results of our years of careful cultivation come to fruition when our trees are chosen to be the beautiful festive showpieces in our visitors’ homes.
"I, and the Rougham Estate team, take great pride year-on-year in nurturing our trees to be the best they can and there is certainly plenty to choose from.
"It’s always a busy time and it is filled with excitement with a touch of Christmas spirit, I love it.”
Whilst at the barn there is plenty more to see and enjoy, including the most wonderful Country Christmas shop, open every day until 22 December, for gifts, decorations, and everything needed during the festive period.
Many visitors also take the time to see the weekend Arts & Crafts, showcasing the amazing and unique work of hugely talented craft-makers. Full details are on the website.
