Sponsored feature: Focusing on Falls – The leaves may be falling but we can make sure you don’t
Falls and fractures following falls are a common and serious health concern faced by older people in England.
- 30% of people aged 65 and over will fall at least once a year
- 50% of people aged 80 and over will fall at least once a year
What can I do to prevent a fall?
- Check your footwear
- Have a review of medication with your GP, some medication can make you feel dizzy and it’s important for this to be checked
- Eat well. Make sure you have enough energy to keep up your strength
- Drink well. Becoming de-hydrated can lead you to feeling lightheaded which can increase you risk of falling
- Check your sight. Eye tests are recommended to be completed every 2 years. Poor vision can lead to loss of balance and co-ordination
