Bury St Edmunds animal feed mill plans would create about 30 new jobs
About 30 new jobs would be created under plans for an animal feed mill in Bury St Edmunds.
ABN, Britain’s largest manufacturer of pig and poultry feed and part of global agri-food business AB Agri, wants to build the UK's 'most efficient compound animal feed mill' on land at its sister company British Sugar’s factory site.
The mill would ultimately replace the firm's existing facility in the town, while expanding capacity and bringing in extra employment opportunities.
A spokesman said the proposed mill would employ about 100 people, with a third more than work at the existing mill.
Roles would include mill operatives, engineers, fitters and HGV drivers.
The spokesman added: "Graduates and apprenticeship schemes will play an important role in the development of the long-term workforce."
AB Agri and British Sugar have had pre-application discussions with West Suffolk Council and expect to submit a full planning application next year.
