Ipswich jobs and careers fair hosted by Ipswich Borough Council and Jobcentre to return to Town Hall in March

A 'successful' careers event that last year saw 150 people connected with employers or offered interviews is set to return.

Ipswich's jobs and careers fair will take place at the Town Hall on March 31.

It follows an event set up by Ipswich Borough Council alongside the Jobcentre in October last year, which saw 52 employers, including EDF, Sizewell C, Suffolk police and fire, and the NHS, in attendance.

One employer reportedly offered roles to eight people after interviews.

In total, the council noted about 700 people turned up to the event.

David Walford, from Ipswich Jobcentre, said the diverse range of people that attended was praised by businesses from the town.

He hopes future fairs will attract even more employers, and increase opportunities for those seeking employment.

Ipswich Borough Councillor David Ellesmere said he was pleased to hear of the success stories.

He added: "These events are incredibly valuable, not only for those out there looking for employment opportunities within the local area, but for prospective employers seeking out new talent.

“The job offers, interviews accepted, and attendance numbers all demonstrate the resounding success of these events, and the hunger for more.

"We are looking forward to hosting this year's fair."
