Jobs fair coming to Hadleigh to showcase career opportunities across south Suffolk

Career opportunities across the full range of industries will be showcased at an annual jobs fair, which takes place tomorrow.

More than 50 exhibitors are lined up for the Employment and Careers Fair at Hadleigh High Sports Centre on Friday, from 10am to 1pm.

Attendees will include engineering and manufacturing firms like Hadleigh Castings, Challs and Siemens, and retail representatives from the likes of Ipswich Town Football Club and Amazon.

There will also be members of the NHS, police and armed forces, as well as training providers, such as West Suffolk College, the University of Suffolk and Apprenticeships Suffolk.

The fair has been organised by South Suffolk MP James Cartlidge, who held a similar event in Great Cornard last year.

“It has always been one of my top priorities to promote the employment and training opportunities that are on offer in my constituency,” said Mr Cartlidge.

“It is also the case that finding staff is one of the biggest challenges facing local businesses.

“I held a jobs fair in Great Cornard last year with over 400 local people attending, leading to multiple real life success stories with people entering in to employment shortly afterwards.

“My message is clear: it is possible to attend one of these fairs and find the next exciting step in your career.

“With this in mind, I would encourage all south Suffolk residents, who are interested in opportunities with our brilliant local businesses, to attend.”

The fair is intended for people at any stage of the employment cycle, in addition to students currently attending school or sixth form, people considering a change of direction, or those who may be seeking training opportunities.

Julia Nix, East Anglia district manager at the Department for Work and Pensions, said: “We are delighted to be supporting the employment and skills fair.

“It is a great opportunity to help young people take their first steps in to the jobs market, as well as supporting those who have been unemployed for some time.

“It’s important to link local employers up with those who are seeking employment so that everyone has the opportunity and support to find a good job to help them get on in life.

“This is what this jobs fair is designed to do.”
