Married at First Sight wedding celebrant from Great Cornard, near Sudbury, thrilled after E4 appearance
A wedding celebrant is overjoyed after being invited to conduct a wedding ceremony on a national TV show.
Ruth Salisbury-Higgs, from Great Cornard, near Sudbury, conducted the ceremony for Porscha and Terence on E4’s Married at First Sight, last night.
The couple met each other for the first time at the end of the aisle.
Ruth said: “Normally I spend month’s getting to know a couple to do their love story justice on their wedding day, but this was a completely different experience.
“I knew Porscha and Terence would be writing their own personal vows so I wrote a ceremony script reflecting the exciting journey of commitment they were about to embark upon.
“It was a challenge writing for complete strangers but hey, who doesn’t love a challenge
“Filming the show was an absolutely thrill as I’m a huge fan. I can’t wait to follow along to see how my couple go”.
Ruth Founded her business, Ceremonies by Ruth, in June 2021.
In 2019, she had attended our son’s wedding on the Gold Coast in Australia.
“Their ceremony was conducted by a celebrant which was a first for me as in the past I had only even seen celebrants conduct funeral ceremonies,” said Ruth.
“I was blown away by how personal and meaningful their ceremony was and it got me thinking: what a fantastic way to make a living”.
After only 12 months in the profession, Ruth was awarded the prestigious AOIC Outstanding Couple and Family Celebrant of 2022.
Researchers for the show found her through her social media presence, which she had been working on with business support organisation Breakout Long Melford.
“When they called at first I thought it was someone playing a joke,” said Ruth.
“Then she said: No, I really am from the show.
“I was beside myself with excitement.
“It was great to see the result last night.”
