Bury St Edmunds care home resident becomes online sensation after painting video goes viral

A 98-year-old care home resident has become an online sensation after a video of her painting went viral.

Lillian Currell, from Marham House, Bury St Edmunds, was filmed making a Christmas decoration using only a glass and teaspoons.

After only 10 days, the video, published on Facebook, has now reached nearly seven million views worldwide, 296,000 likes, 11,000 comments and 14,000 shares.

Lillian said: "I'm completely overwhelmed. I love painting and if it's given a lot of people pleasure that’s great."

Care home manager, Teresa Burgess, added: “We’d like to thank everyone who has supported us.

“Lillian is very humble and never expected this many views.

“In ten days it’s had 6.7 million views from all over the world.”
