Pictures reveal damage caused by early morning house fire which saw crews from Brandon, Mildenhall and Thetford attend

A Suffolk fire service has released pictures of the aftermath and more details of a devastating fire which tore through a property in the early hours of this morning.

Brandon Fire Station, along with crews from Mildenhall and Thetford, were called to the property in Gas House Drove at 4.34am today.

When the crews arrived eight people, including children, were safely out of the property and were checked over by ambulance crews, a spokesman said in a Brandon Fire Station Facebook post.

Firefighters, who used breathing equipment and hose reel jets to extinguish the fire and a positive pressure fan for ventilation, also saved a kitten from the blaze.

The importance of having smoke detection in homes did also not go unnoticed by the fire station in its post.

A spokesman added: “If this property did not have working smoke alarms this could of been a very different post, please remember to check your smoke alarms and keep safe.”
