Owner of WokWraps to open first shop at popular Beach Street complex in Micklegate Road, Felixstowe

The owner of a popular Asian-inspired food stall is taking his passion further as he prepares to launch his first shop at a popular seaside venue.

Jamie Burgis, 24, of Bury St Edmunds, will open WokWraps at the award-winning Beach Street complex in Micklegate Road, Felixstowe, this Friday.

The eatery will take the place of The Viet Street Company – a Vietnamese food stall – which shut over three weeks ago.

Jamie, who launched his business in July, said owning his own shop has been a life-long dream.

“I feel really overwhelmed,” said Jamie.

“It’s already been so amazing since launching in July. We’ve already come this far, so we’re just excited to see what Beach Street brings to us.

“It’s something I wanted to do my whole life.”

Previously, Jamie worked as a manager at Top Garden, in Baxter Street, Bury St Edmunds, for ten years.

His experience of preparing food in the kitchen, and working alongside the chefs, is what helped him combine the flavours for his set of wraps.

In July, he took his passion of Asian flavours and launched WokWraps, which has even been reviewed by Big John – a Tik Tok influencer.

In the seven months, he travelled around the county catering at weddings, birthday parties and street food festivals.

Jamie said: “After managing a Chinese takeaway for a decade, it’s quite rewarding to have something for myself, but it hasn’t all sunk in yet.”

In the future, Jamie hopes to include more alternative options.

WokWraps will be opened from Thursday to Sunday, 12-9pm.
