Flood alert issued for tidal River Waveney from Ellingham to Breydon Water including Lowestoft and Beccles
A flood alert has been issued for parts of Suffolk including two towns in the county.
Flooding is possible for the tidal River Waveney from Ellingham to Breydon Water including Lowestoft and Beccles Quay, as well as Oulton Broad, Somerleyton, St Olaves, Haddiscoe and Belton.
Minor flooding to riverside roads and footpaths is likely for the overnight tide, until Saturday, December 30.
High water levels may last for a few days, until the high tides at Great Yarmouth have passed.
The government does not expect the situation to escalate, or to issue any further warning messages at this time.
Advice for road users include taking care on waterside roads and footpaths, and to not put yourself in unnecessary danger.
