All Saints Hotel in Fornham St Genevieve, near Bury St Edmunds, progresses plans for golf club holiday lodges

Plans for nine holiday lodges at hotel and golf club have moved a step forward.

All Saints Hotel in The Street, Fornham St Genevieve, near Bury St Edmunds, wants to build the lodges in place of the 10th hole fairway at the club.

The site has already been approved for 15 lodges and the hotel has now applied to West Suffolk Council for change of use for the area from recreation and leisure to small holiday park.

The 10th hole would be moved from the north-eastern boundary to a ‘more central open fairway zone’, which is currently used for practice.

The hotel says the holiday lodges would appeal particularly to golfers on short breaks.

Guests will use existing parking facilities at the hotel with access to the lodges by foot or golf buggy.

All the lodges would be situated within 150 metres of the hotel and golfing facilities.

The area for the lodges slopes down towards the River Lark but is outside the floodplain zone.

The lodges would be the ‘smaller generic type’ of timber lodge of one, two, or three bedroom clad in natural timber boarding.

The lodges are mobile being set on wheels and fall within the classification of caravans.
