Pictures show uprooted tree and damaged car in Nacton Road, Ipswich, after Storm Henk

Storm Henk wreaked havoc on Suffolk yesterday, with high winds brought to the county.

Images, which were sent to SuffolkNews by Vikki Cullum, show an uprooted tree in Nacton Road, Ipswich – and the car it damaged in the process.

Taken shortly after 6.30pm, the car was nearly toppled onto its side after being lifted up by a tree, which itself had fallen into the neighbouring garden.

An amber alert for wind was in place yesterday as the storm battered the county.

Suffolk Highways has reported that more than 100 trees were felled by gusts, blocking roads, while many more were rendered impassable by heavy flooding in low-lying areas.

Hundreds of homes continue to remain without electricity, and many residents will not have power restored until later on this afternoon.

A yellow warning for rain remains in place, as well as flood warnings, and Suffolk Highways continues to attend traffic incidents today.
