Causes of massive fires at Riverhills Health Club & Spa on outskirts of Ipswich and Earl Stonham house revealed





The causes of two major fires which tore through a spa complex and a house on the same day have been revealed.

The first of the two fires on Friday started shortly after midnight at the Riverhills Health Club & Spa on the outskirts of Ipswich and was attended by more than 20 crews.

Less than eight hours later, almost 20 fire crews from across Suffolk were dealing with a major blaze at a house in Norwich Road, Earl Stonham, near Stowmarket.

The roof of the property was ablaze when they arrived and a 75-year-old woman had to be rescued from inside.

At Riverhills, the fire started in the swimming pool area and crews saved the main part of the building.

Today, Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service confirmed both incidents were accidental.
