Bury St Edmunds: Screenings of Peter and the Wolf planned for Abbey Gardens this Christmas
Families in Bury St Edmunds can look forward to screenings of a film retelling a classic composition this Christmas – featuring a live orchestra.
Promising a ‘magical, memorable experience for families’, 16 showings of the 2006 film Peter and the Wolf will air at an all-weather auditorium in the Abbey Gardens between December 7 and 10.
Each show will be accompanied by live music from London-based orchestra Orpheus Sinfonia.
More than 900 tickets have sold since they went up for sale last week.
The live event is being organised by West Suffolk Council as part of a wealth of activities over the Christmas period.
Cllr Cliff Waterman, the leader of West Suffolk Council, said: “We are delighted to be putting on this magical, memorable experience for families across our West Suffolk communities to enjoy in the run up to this Christmas.
“It’s part of the wider mix of festive fun organised by the Christmas in Bury St Edmunds partnership for people across West Suffolk and visitors to the area to come along, have a good time, and support the shops, cafes, restaurants, and other local businesses.
“It’s also another example of the wonderful mix of leisure and cultural activity taking place, that makes West Suffolk a great place to visit all year around, but an even better place to live and work.”
Screenings of the film will take place every day at 1pm, 3.15pm, 5.30pm and 7.45pm.
Tickets for adults cost £15, while children between five and 15 can enter for £8.
Children under five go free, but they must have a ticket and be accompanied by an adult.
