Ed Sheeran donates hundreds of clothes and accessories to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices in Framlingham

The ‘extraordinary generosity’ of a Suffolk superstar has been praised by a children’s charity after he raided his wardrobe and donated hundreds of items to a good cause.

Framlingham-raised Ed Sheeran has donated just under 450 clothes and accessories to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

Mr Sheeran, who has been an ambassador for the charity since 2014, gave away a variety of goods, including onesies, socks, jumpers, trousers, hats, Ipswich Town memorabilia – and even boxer shorts.

The items were delivered to the charity’s Framlingham store by a member of Mr Sheeran’s team.

Many will be auctioned away on eBay and could fetch thousands of pounds to go towards its work.

Kevin Clements, EACH’s director of fundraising and communications, said: “It’s an extraordinary gesture and extremely kind of Ed.

“His generosity will raise thousands of pounds for our wonderful charity.

“Despite his incredible success and sky-high profile, he remains a loyal champion and we’re eternally grateful for his support.

“We realise how lucky we are. It’s invaluable and helps raise the profile of the vital care we provide to local children and families.

“In total, Ed and his family have donated 445 garments and accessories and the vast majority are going to be sold via eBay auctions.

“He has fans all over the world and these donations will undoubtedly cause a stir. It’s going to be exciting and fascinating to see how things pan out.”

EACH hoped the donations could become unique Christmas presents for fans.

About 186 of the items, including 27 pairs of boxer shorts, will be sold during three different auctions, set to start later this month.

Another 239 will be listed early next year, with the remaining 20 being reserved for new EACH shop openings.

The first 62 will drop during a ten-day auction, set to start on November 16.

None of the items will be washed and will be handed to buyers as they are.

Prices will start at £10, an EACH spokesman said.

This is not Mr Sheeran’s first brush with EACH.

He performed an acoustic gig at a gala fundraiser in 2016, where he donated a drum – and the evening raised £262,000.
