Ipswich’s new Poundland at Copdock Mill Interchange in London Road opens

Ipswich’s newest Poundland has opened – filling a unit that has been vacant for three years.

The new store at Copdock Mill Interchange, off London Road, opened yesterday occupying the unit that formerly housed Mothercare before its closure in 2020.

Darren Kay, Poundland’s retail director, said the new store will create between 18 and 24 new jobs.

Before the opening, he said: “We can’t wait to open our doors in Ipswich and we know from talking to people in the town that shoppers are looking forward to the opening of our new store.

“We’re working hard to make sure our new store will be a cracking example of the breadth of what we can offer in a convenient location.

“And just like all our stores, it will offer amazing value to customers looking to make their money go further.”

This comes after the closure of the Poundland in Carr Street on March 11.

Like all Poundland outlets, the Copdock store will stock Pep clothing, and will also sell chilled and frozen foods.

Outside of Ipswich, five more Poundland stores will launch nationwide.

The other locations are in Selby, Pontefract, Cardiff, Teignmouth and Ryde.
