Crews from Long Melford and Bury St Edmunds called to chimney fire in Lavenham

Firefighters were called to a chimney fire at a semi-detached property in Lavenham, near Sudbury.

One crew from Long Melford and two from Bury St Edmunds were called to the property in Water Street (A1141) at 6.20pm this evening.

Police had put in place a temporary road closure while the incident was being dealt with.

Firefighters used a stirrup pump and a chimney rod to extinguish the blaze.

The fire was put out at 8.50pm.
