A Suffolk rugby club has expressed its condolences to a fellow team after one of its players died during a game.
Arturas Rudys, 27, died after a collision with another player during a match between Wisbech and Diss at Harefield Road.
Thurston Rangers have given their thoughts to Wisbech Rugby Club after one of their players previously died during a match in 2017.
Josh Gilbert fell to the ground 20 minutes into an away game at Hadleigh while playing for the Thurston side.
In a statement on social media, the rugby club said: “Our thoughts this weekend are with our friends at Wisbech Rugby Club.
“We’ve enjoyed many battles throughout the seasons on the pitch, but today share the shock and sadness of their loss.
“Our condolences are with family, friends and all at the club.”
A fundraising page set up to help Arturas’ girlfriend, Jolita Kiseliovaite, and two-year-old son, Emilijus, has already received more than 500 donations and has almost reached £15,000.
