Ashmans Hall in Bungay Road, Beccles remains on market for £1.3m after failing to sell at auction

An eight-bedroom country house remains on the market after failing to sell at auction earlier this month.

Ashmans Hall, in Bungay Road, Beccles, went under the hammer by Auction House East Anglia on November 1.

Bidding started at £1m, and quickly accelerated to £1.2m before slowing down.

It gradually crept to £1.3m, but no further interest was lodged so the property was unable to be sold.

The late Georgian house is set in seven acres of private garden, and can be sold with many of the current furnishings by separate negotiation.

A spokesperson for Auction House East Anglia confirmed it remains on the market for £1.3m, with another of the organisation’s live stream auctions set to take place on December 13.

Described as a ‘gentlemen’s residence’ by the auctioneers, it boasts some incredible character features which have been restored by the current owners over the last 30 years.

Alongisde the eight bedrooms, there are five living rooms, five bathrooms, a large country style kitchen and a grand central staircase leading to a galleried landing.

In recent years the property has been let for weekend holiday use that has provided a significant alternative income for the current owners.

There is also an option to purchase additional flats, with the four bedroom ‘North Wing’ to the rear of the property.

The property is nearby Beccles town centre and a 20 minute walk from the train station, as well as Benets Roman Catholic Primary School being under a 10 minute stroll away.
