Mildenhall: New application submitted as 25 affordable homes could be built in four sites including Emmanuel Close

A new application has been submitted to build 25 affordable homes in a Suffolk town.

The proposed application seeks permission from West Suffolk Council to add the affordable homes in Mildenhall in Emmanuel Close, Peterhouse Close, Pembroke Close, Newnham Close and Downing Close.

Applicant Flagship Housing Group Ltd, which already owns and manages a number of garage sites in the town, as well as more than 5,000 properties most of which are in Suffolk, had previously secured planning permission to build 28 homes across the sites in 2020.

The new amended application reduces the number of homes in Emmanuel Close from 12 to eight homes instead.

A spokesperson for Flagship said that a total of 165 parking spaces would be provided with the proposal.

In June, changes were submitted with minor amendments to individual properties such as new homes to have ASHP and PV panels installed and for a pedestrian gate at the back gardens to be added in Downing Close.

A spokesperson for West Suffolk Council, said changes to parking provision were made in response to comments from Suffolk County Council Highways which required further information to determine whether the proposals would be acceptable or not.

In a planning statement by Flagship, it says: “There is a significant need for additional affordable homes locally.

“Flagship has a responsibility to find ways to address this need and build more affordable homes for local people.”
