Stowmarket Police issue warning after multiple reports of flooding as Storm Henk lashes Suffolk
Police have said there have been multiple reports of flooding as Storm Henk lashes the county with heavy rain and wind.
In a Stowmarket Police social media post, a spokesman said they were out on patrol around Combs Ford earlier today.
They issued a photo of a heavily waterlogged area in Ipswich Road near the River Rat.
The spokesman said there were many reports of flooding coming in.
They advised residents to keep up to date on local river levels using the link here and to stay safe.
Earlier today, Suffolk Highways said it was attending reports of flooding due to heavy rain in Orford Road, Bromeswell; Haughley New Street, in Wetherden; Main Road, in Kesgrave; A12 Main Road, in Yoxford; Chapel Field, in Bramford and A1120 northbound, in Stowmarket.
Compiegne Way, in Bury St Edmunds, is also shut due to flooding.
The Environment Agency has warned that towns such as Ipswich, Stowmarket, Needham Market, Hadleigh and Halesworth could see run-off from rivers.
This comes after reports of minor flooding around eight rivers in the county.
The Orwell Bridge outside Ipswich will likely remain open despite an amber warning for wind but a speed limit reduction to 40 mph will likely be seen later today.
