An eagle-eyed Bury St Edmunds resident may have snapped the very first daffodil of the year – in January.

Colin Green, who lives on the Moreton Hall, spotted the daffodil in full bloom in his garden on Tuesday with another one close to opening.

This was the earliest daffodil he had recorded, having lived in the area for 35 years.

He had previously seen a daffodil bloom on February 1, 2018.
