Rivers in Bury St Edmunds, Beccles, Stowmarket and Ipswich could flood as yellow weather warning in place for Suffolk

A yellow weather warning for heavy rain is in place for the entire of Suffolk and flooding is expected as river levels rise.

The Met Office has issued the warning from noon today to 3am tomorrow due to another spell of rain from Storm Henk.

Many communities across the county have been impacted by the severe weather with roads being flooded and there are currently 10 flood alerts in place.

The flood alerts include:

River Lark between Bury St Edmunds and Mildenhall

Little Ouse River and River Thet near Thetford

River Waveney from Diss to Beccles and Lowestoft

River Blyth near Halesworth

The Met Office has warned that more rain onto saturated ground may cause further flooding and more travel disruptions.

Hundreds of homes were left without power due to strong winds this week and the county’s power networks could be affected due to today’s weather.

Some communities may be cut off by flooded roads.
