Two Modern Apprentices from Stowmarket's PPG Industries plant have successfully completed a training course in leadership skills run by the Rotary International movement.

The two 19-year-olds, George Simmonds and Robert Rampley, were sponsored to attend the course by the Gipping Valley Rotary Club as part of the club's aim to foster links with local schools and industry.

The Rotary Youth Leadership Award course, which is held each year over a full week at Grafham Water, Leicestershire, is designed to increase young people's self-confidence and to develop their decision-making and team leadership skills.

Peter Watson, Gipping Valley Rotary Club's training officer and one of the instructors on the course, said that both George and Robert had contributed in full part to the success of the course and had had an enjoyable and valuable week. He hoped that everything they had learned would be carried through to their day-to-day work at PPG.
